A total of 5,293 HDB flats will be on sale in the September 2013 Build-To-Order Exercise. This includes 4,156 new BTO flats in Punggol and Yishun.

To cater to the strong demand from singles, HDB is offering another 1,137 units of balance two-room flats from previous BTO exercises. This is more than double the total number launched in the July 2013 BTO exercise.

These units are in Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang, Hougang, Jurong East/West, Punggol, Sembawang and Woodlands.

With effect from this month’s BTO launch, parents will be allowed to apply for a 3-room flat under the Multi-Generation Priority Scheme, in addition to an studio apartment or a 2-room flat.

84 units of the pilot 3Gen flats will also be offered in the BTO project Saraca Breeze @ Yishun.

The selling price excluding grants for a 3Gen flat starts from S$335,000.

3Gen flats are meant to cater to multi-generation families who want to live together for mutual care and support.

Also from this BTO exercise, HDB will — where feasible — include the kitchen partition wall as one of the standard items under the Optional Component Scheme for BTO flats.

HDB said this is in view of the positive response from flat buyers for the pilot project at Teck Ghee Parkview.

In the September 2012 BTO exercise, HDB piloted an “open kitchen” concept for flats at Teck Ghee Parkview, to give buyers greater flexibility in terms of layout and design.

Buyers were given a choice to opt for a partition wall between the living/dining area and the kitchen to better suit their lifestyle needs.
